Total flooding engineered extinguishing systems are designed to suppress a fire in a contained area. Usually, these systems are custom designed for each application to assure maximum effectiveness. A typical total flooding system will consist of three sub-systems.
- Appropriate fire detection devices are selected as suitable to the protected area.
- The extinguishing agent is selected considering the type of occupancy, expected type of fire, and content.
- A release control system is provided to integrate the fire detection and suppression systems.
